Someone who is going through difficult emotions can totally understand how difficult it is to concentrate on one thing at one end and the other side is filled with anger, grief, stress, embarrassment and whatnot. We often try to avoid this pain, push it down, sideline it with something else as a distraction but do not stand up and face it. These difficult emotions may lead to mental issues like depression in later stages.

But if you learn about your feelings and emotions in detail then you will find that turning away from it is never a solution. Face them off and this blog will explain to you how to mindfully deal with difficult emotions. From accepting your emotions, labeling them to realizing that none of the difficult emotions are permanent are methods to mindfully deal with difficult emotions.

Step 1: Accept Your Emotions The Way They Are

Are you experiencing headache, throat choke, stomachache, heavy heartbeat or muscle tension in any other part of your body? Become aware of the emotions and the effects you are experiencing. This acceptance allows you to make aware which you usually bottle down unknowingly.

Step 2: Label The Emotion

Don’t worry about labeling the emotions and there is no harm in it. Is it anxiety, fear, anger or something else which is making you feel detached from the world? You may be wondering what help labeling can help us. Well, this does help in cutting down the pain while allowing you to stay in the present. However, this allows you to take an exit from the past and you don’t believe in what comes in the future.

Step 3: Acceptance

Do not deny the different types of feelings you are experiencing. If you accept these emotions and feelings mindfully, you know that you need to bring compassion, awareness and peace within yourself. This means that solution comes with you side by side. You will also realize that these emotions are just clouds and they will pass away in the sky. You are just opening yourself up to new expanses and possibilities and gaining strength over time. A lot of things can improve with positive affirmations where you tell yourself to make things better and actually put in efforts to do so.

Step 4: Realize That It’s Not Permanent

Each and every emotion is impermanent in your life. Agreed? They come and they leave. However, it is difficult to remember when you are dealing with negative emotions and we agree with you. Kindly and patiently, embrace yourself and ask some questions like where is this feeling coming from, what can I do now, how do I take care of myself, what can my partner do for me and how to make the whole scenario a loving and kind relationship.

Such questions will answer you ways to promote empathy and positive connection in the relationship, with yourself and with others.

Step 5: Investigation

Take a moment away from everything and ask yourself questions:

  • Triggering points of such emotions
  • Causes of negative emotions
  • What is the discomfort you are experiencing?
  • Was it the critical mind or was it the reaction of someone your partner said to you?

Also ask yourself if this pattern has become common or if the difficulty of these emotions are bothering you to the core. Create a space for yourself to see things from a different perspective and gain empathy for yourself. It allows you and your loved ones to connect with each other.

Step 6: Free Your Emotions

There is no need to control what you are feeling. Let them flow and be open for the outcome side by side. Come out of the terrible state and understand what others are also feeling here. We are intelligent beings who are fortunate enough to explore, discuss and learn about mindfulness without kicking it here and there. Come out of yourself and explore the emotions surrounding you and your loved one.
