Have you ever played video games before? You might have played traditional sports at least once. Just like in real life, playing sports in video games is challenging, exciting, and a bit complicated.
Some people think that playing video games is just a waste of time, and you’ll just end up being unhealthy and unmotivated. However, what they don’t know is that there are lots of different benefits of playing video games.
First, your brain will be exercised and will make you decide as quickly as possible. Then, you’ll also improve your coordination, will be able to socialise during multi-player games. Lastly, if you’ll play sports like tennis, basketball, and football, you’ll be able to exercise even if you’re at home. Don’t worry, you can still wear classic football shirts, and no one will judge you.
So if you want to know the sports you can play in video games, then you should check the list below!
1. Basketball
As you may know, basketball is played by two teams. Each team needs to guard the hoop on their side, while their opponents try to shoot the ball to the hoop. The team who score the most wins.
In scoring, when someone shoots from outside the line, it’s three points while the inside the line is two points. Then, a free throw is when someone shoots from inside of the small line which is scored one point.
In video games, you can find a lot of different games about basketball such as NBA, Mario Hoops, Arch Rivals, and Double Dribble. You can buy a game depending on the console you have. If you don’t, you can download one on your phone or your laptop.
Playing basketball in video games is an awesome experience because you can choose your team and your opponent. You can also set it on multi-player if you’re getting bored playing alone.
2. Football
A football match consists of two teams with 11 players each. Each team has assigned positions to their players such as defenders, strikers, midfielders, and a goalie. A goalie needs to block the ball from going into the net and prevent their opponent to score but unlike the other players, he can use his hands. The game is played within 45 minutes, whoever scores the most wins!
You can play a lot of football video games such as the FIFA franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer, European Club Soccer, and Score! Hero. It’s as if you can actually feel you’re running with your teammates even if you’re just holding a joystick.
Just like basketball, this sport can also be set to a multi-player. It’s a great way to practise tricks, especially if you’re the kind of fan that has classic football shirts.
3. Boxing
The basic rule of boxing is to hit and not be hit. Of course, there are a lot more than that like no hitting below the belt and just using your fists when punching. Other than that, it’s just two people inside the ring and a lot of people shouting from afar.
If you’re the type of person who’s afraid to get hit multiple times, then you can still play boxing through video games. You can still do some punches if you play with Wii Sports, but you can still enjoy other games such as Punch-Out!!!, Fight Night, ready to Rumble, and Boxing.
4. Golf
Usually, golf is played by a single player. The goal is to shoot the ball into the hole as few strokes as possible. So, unlike any other game, the main opponent in golf is the course. If there are a lot of players, they usually decide who makes the first stroke.
The players need to identify which is their ball so that it’ll be easier to take a shot. When taking a shot, a player shouldn’t move the ball or change anything the surrounds the ball. Otherwise, there will be a two-stroke penalty.
If you want to try playing golf, but not on a field, you can practise by playing PGA Tour, Mario Golf, Links, and Wii Sports. Don’t worry, you can still wear a golf cap even if you’re at home.
5. Car racing
Don’t know how to drive but loves to race? Video games got your back. Some video game races are based on real-life competitions, and some are based on fantasy. A great racing game can let you have control of every move your car can do. For instance, you can easily make a turn, and feel the scratches your car makes.
Some of the well-known car racing video games are Forza Horizon, Need for Speed, Assetto Corsa, and Mario Kart.
