Teleparty, formerly known as Netflix Party, is a free Google Chrome, Edge, and Opera browser extension that allows you to watch video content online with your friends. Teleparty adds group chat and synchronises video playback to Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO.
When it added support for other streaming services in October 2020, the extension’s name was changed from Netflix Party to Teleparty. Despite the name change, most people still call Teleparty the Netflix Party.
General Suggestions for Resolving Netflix Party Issues
Because Netflix Party does not have many features, the majority of issues you may encounter while using the Netflix Party extension are caused by your computer or internet connection rather than the extension itself.
Common Netflix Party issues are typically resolved by one of the following solutions:
Ascertain that the Netflix Party host sent the correct link and that all invited viewers clicked the Netflix Party button after opening the link.
Reopen and close your browser.
Restart your computer or laptop.
Start your router again.
Check for internet issues or work on improving your Wi-Fi connection.
The Netflix Party extension should be uninstalled and reinstalled.
Check Downdetector to see if Netflix’s services are unavailable.
How to Resolve Netflix-Related Issues
If none of the above solutions got your Netflix Party up and running, it’s most likely a problem with system requirements or installation.
1. Use a Browser and Device that are Compliant
The Netflix Party browser extension is only available for laptop and desktop computers running Google Chrome, Opera, or Microsoft Edge. It is not yet available for iOS, Android, Tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, or any other device.
2. Determine if everyone has Netflix access.
If you want to start or join a Netflix Party, you must first have a Netflix account. The browser extension is free to use, but it does not provide access to Netflix if you do not already have an account.
Multiple users of the same shared Netflix account can join a party at the same time, but the account must be on a membership plan that allows multiple viewers to watch Netflix at the same time.
3. Determine the number of party attendees.
Netflix Party can support up to 50 people in a single party. The number of people who can join a single party, on the other hand, is entirely dependent on the current load on Netflix Party servers.
If you are unable to join a host’s party, it is possible that the party has reached its maximum capacity. There aren’t any workarounds for this, unfortunately. You’ll have to wait until someone leaves the party before you can join.
4. Obey the Directions
This may appear to be a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people prefer a more hands-on approach to learning; they throw away the manual and say, “I’ll just figure it out,” when it comes to new gadgets or applications.
Assuming there are no issues with your browser or browser extension, using Teleparty is a simple process. If you are the host of the Teleparty:
Open a Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, or HBO video.
Click the Teleparty icon next to the browser address bar, followed by the Start Party button that appears.
Please forward the provided URL to your friends.
If you plan to attend a host’s Teleparty:
Select the party URL from the drop-down menu.
