Dr. Kamal Jayasing Ranadive was a renowned Indian biomedical researcher dedicated her life to understanding the complex links between viruses and cancer. Early Life and Education

Dr. Kamal Ranadive was born on 8 November 1917, in Maharashtra, India, into a family that valued education. Her parents encouraged her to pursue higher studies. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bombay (now Mumbai) and her Master of Science degree from the same university. After completing her post-graduate studies, she obtained a fellowship from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to pursue her doctoral research in biomedical sciences. Dr. Ranadive’s research interests focused on studying viruses and their impact on human health. During the 1960s, she established India’s first tissue culture research laboratory at the Indian Cancer Research Centre in Mumbai. Dr. Ranadive’s work in this laboratory was groundbreaking and played a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of the links between viruses and cancer. Dr. kamal ranadive died on 11 April, 2001.
