What exactly is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is a modern, non-invasive therapeutic procedure which was first used to perform lithotripsy – the disintegration of kidney stones, via acoustic waves, without the need for surgery.
Today, electromagnetic shockwaves are applied to painful parts of the body to accelerate the healing process, stimulate cell growth and neovascularization (generation of new blood vessels), promote decalcification, eliminate blockages, and help repair damaged tissue.

Cortisone Therapy (up to 6 weeks before 1st treatment)
Can you describe the Free Consultation?
The Free consultation will last approximately 30 minutes.
Our staff will evaluate your medical and surgical history thoroughly.
It’s very important to be clear and honest with our staff during the consultation. Not everyone is a promising candidate for Shockwave Therapy – we are a private clinic and this is an elective procedure. If it has been determined that you are a candidate for FocusWave Therapy, we can schedule you in immediately for your first treatment.
How long are the treatments and how many treatments will I need?
For Chronic Pain, there will be 4 treatments. 1 per week for 4 weeks.
This is followed by a break of one week.
Then a follow up session to determine your progress.
Additional treatments may be suggested, depending on the severity of your injury.
Is the treatment covered by private insurance or OHIP?
FocusWave Clinic is a private practice. Although we do not accept third party insurance, we can provide you with necessary documentation in such cases when your insurance may cover treatment.

After your free consultation with us, if it has been determined that you qualify for focused shockwave therapy, you may submit full payment or a deposit which will cover your first two treatment.
The balance will be required at the start of the 3rd treatment.

DURING YOUR TREATMENT
Will it hurt?
NO! Depending on your sensitivity, there might be minor redness that lasts under 24 hours, but you should be able to resume activities immediately.
How long is each treatment?
~15 minutes
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing at all but we do ask that you come to the clinic prepared, and as hygenically as possible so as to be able to start your appointment on time. Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, we ask that you bring your own mask.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Can I engage in physical activity after the treatment?
YES! You should be able to return to your activities immediately.
How long after treatment should I see improvement?
Some patients see immediate improvement, but often times it will take a few sessions to see any measurable results. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t achieve immediate gratification.
It takes time for the body to produce the changes needed to improve your condition
What if I don’t see any positive results?
The vast majority of patients see a marked improvement in their condition following the complete series of treatments. That being said, there are no guarantees that this will work for your condition.
