Inconel 718 Tube is an age-hardenable superalloy composed primarily of nickel, chromium, and iron. It also has high levels of molybdenum, titanium, niobium, and aluminium. This combines great corrosion resistance with exceptional strength. O-rings and heat exchangers are two common applications.
Inconel 718 tube has a high creep-rupture resistance and tensile qualities at temperatures up to 1300 degrees F, as well as oxidation resistance to 1800 degrees F. Inconel 718 tubes are used in high-strength applications such as jet engine components such as buckets, wheels, spacers, and high-temperature bolts and fasteners.

- These tubes offer excellent mechanical qualities, including tensile, fatigue, and creep-rupture resistance. They also have very high yield tensile strength, creep, and rupture strength. Inconel 718 tubes are resistant to chlorine, high temperatures, and sulfide stress corrosion cracking. Inconel 718 Tubes are also resistant to water corrosion and stress corrosion cracking caused by chloride ions.
- It is an age-hardenable alloy with a slow aging response feature that provides heating and cooling without cracking during annealing. It has excellent welding capabilities and is resistant to post-weld age cracking.
- Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy designed to withstand pitting and cracking corrosion in a wide range of harsh environments. This nickel alloy is utilized from freezing temperatures through long-term operation at 1200 degrees F. One of the unique elements of Inconel 718’s composition is the presence of niobium, which allows for age hardening and allows for annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling.
- The niobium addition, when combined with molybdenum, stiffens the matrix of the alloy and provides high strength without the need for reinforcing heat treatment. Other typical nickel-chromium alloys are toughened over time by the addition of aluminium and titanium.
