Are you looking for an opportunity to work? You’ve likely been told to “pursue your passions,” “leverage your networks,” “tailor and tidy your CV,” “do the research,” as well as “dress to success”–among many other suggestions.
“These are the fundamental elements of finding work that is timeless,” says Teri Hockett the chief executive officer of What’s For Work? an online career platform for women.

The majority of them have, in some manner, pursuing their interests or network and had a strong resume, but these are part of a bigger overall picture and an unpredictably twisting road. Instead of following specific formulas for job searching that are found in the book many were more open to opportunities and became very good at what they were working on.”
We’re not suggesting you ignore or disregard the traditional advice for job seekers completely. However, it’s not a bad idea to try a different approach and explore less conventional methods until you’ve achieved your desired goals, Hockett says.

1. Be vulnerable. “Powerful listening is a powerful coaching tool, and an incredible skill to be able to use in your everyday day-to-day life,” Abella says. “The art of talking is knowing how to listen. And it’s the same with job interviews. Be aware of when to speak and the right time to end your conversation and when you should inquire about questions.”
If you are practicing in preparation for your interview, do not practice your responses to questions like “can you describe yourself?” “Why do you desire to work in this field?” and “what are your strongest strength and weakness?” Practice listening carefully and without interruptions.
5. Start from the top and work your way downwards.
